HOT OFF THE PRESS: Children’s Education and Care Endorsement

It’s news we’ve all been waiting for and a project the sector has been working towards for the past two years or more. However, at the Australian Industry Skills Committee meeting on the 23rd of February 2021, only some of the qualifications that were put forward for endorsement from the Children’s Education and Care IRC were approved.

The following qualifications were approved in principle:

  1. CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care
  2. CHC30221 Certificate III in School Based Education Support
  3. CHC40221 Certificate IV in School Based Education Support
  4. CHC50221 Diploma of School Age Education and Care

The following qualifications were NOT approved:

  1. CHC40121 Certificate IV in School Age Education and Care
  2. CHC50121 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care

The AISC website states that there were too many stakeholder concerns for the above qualifications for endorsement of these two qualifications.

What does it mean that the above qualifications were not approved?

Please look out for further information from the Skills Service Organisation, Skills IQ for information about next steps.

What does this mean for transitioning your students to the new qualifications?

Normally, you have up to twelve months from the date the new qualifications appear on training.gov.au to complete students who are currently enrolled in the old qualification, or to make a plan to transition them over to the equivalent new qualification. Sometimes additional time is given to some qualifications so watch this space.

When will the approved qualifications appear on training.gov.au?

The approved qualifications will usually appear on training.gov.au a few weeks after endorsement, so we are expecting them to appear on training.gov.au mid-late March.

What resources are available from Eduworks for the new qualifications?

Eduworks Resources is developing a full set of resources for all the above qualifications. Our early childhood resources are set to launch in only a few weeks’ time!

To celebrate the endorsement of the new qualifications we are offering a special 20% discount on these new resources for the month of March. Offer ends March 31. Conditions apply.
